HISTORY OF OUR BEANS
Our outstanding Flamingo beans are harvested from the Santa Rita Estate owned and run by Desiree and Dania, fourth generation coffee farmers and self described women of the entrepreneurial sprit.
In coffee growing, female farmers and female owned farms are a bit of a rarity, like many agricultural industries it has been traditionally male dominated. Not only are Desiree and Dania challenging this status quo, but they are producing some seriously awesome coffee whilst staying true to many environmental principles.
Rejuvenating the land after it had been deforested in the 1980’s, over 25% of the Santa Rita Estate is kept as a nature reserve, this notion of conservation and rejuvenation is a key principle and belief in the Flamingo coffee brand.
